LINO MEMBERSHIP

LINO MEMBERSHIP
WELCOME TO THE PRINTHAUS! ALWAYS OPEN, CREATIVE AND SUPPORTIVEFOR AGES:
Membership is for people aged 18 years and over. Under 18? we don’t want to see you missing out, come speak to us and we’ll arrange times with you separately
WHAT DO I NEED?
Right now there’s only really two things:
1/ To get the most from your membership its best if you’ve had some experience of lino-printing. But don’t worry - we got your back if you’re a newbie
2/ To book printing time in the studio you’ll need a Gmail address. If you haven’t got one, get one here Create a Gmail account
WHATS NEXT?
1/ Induction: We cover the necessary health & safety first and then we get to the good stuff! Takes no more than an hour: might be just you or you might be with a couple other newbies 🙂. When is it? You tell us when suits you and we’ll try to work around you. If we can’t, we’ll sort an alternative with you faster than you can ink a block!
HOW OFTEN CAN I COME IN?
Studio: Open to members 7-days a week, 8.30am-10pm
Print presses: Screenprint and Riso members book printing slots on the presses and equipment using Google Calendar. But lets be honest - most of your time will be spent concentrating on carving out your blocks!
WHAT DO I GET WITH THE MEMBERSHIP?
The space! Its not just you and the press in a corner - the space is super light and open, theres always fresh work up on the walls, banter to be had and loads of SUPER HANDY ‘EXTRAS’: A3-scanner, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, massive light-box, A1-guillotine, book-binding tools, loads of drawing-materials and a massive table to do your thing
Print library 📚 on your left as soon as you come in you’ll find shelves stacked with books about: printmaking (all kinds!), comics, illustration, paper-making, book-making, fabric printing and dyeing, t-shirt design and more. And! Another section dedicated to local indie publishers and any cool riso zines that crop up from our workshops
Oh hi! 👋 You’ll be sharing the space with other printmakers: other lino printers (obvs), riso nerds and screenprint geeks
We’re a friendly bunch and love to meet like-minded folk - as long as you don’t pass on your round of tea duty you’ll feel right at home in no time
Coffee first ☕️ There is always free flowing tea and coffee - and not just any dishwater. Yorkshire tea because its the best brew and whatever delights local indie supplier Little Man Coffee has sorted us with
Even if you’ve forgotten everything and feel like a baby giraffe we can help - book in a quick half-hour to an hour refresher with one of us and you’ll be away
The shop! No more having to rush out to Pen & Paper or Hobbycraft because we’ve got our own art-shop 🙂 it’s open all the time and you can use it at your leisure. It’s very convenient!
Always good to have a goal to inspire you and if that goal is getting your work seen by the local community, getting to know the locals and maybe sell a few prints - you are in the right place! We’re good pals with Art Market Cardiff and HwbClwb - We run Snapped-Up Market, Canton’s original indie makers market. And! We run Printed Festival, Cardiff’s first and only festival dedicated to PRINT!
Getting to the studio: not too shabby at all - only a 30 minute walk from Cardiff Central station or 25-minute bus ride (17 or 18) from city centre
Got the munchies: you can bring food & drink into the studio, Chapter do some mean sweet potato fries or just walk round the corner onto Cowbridge Rd East and you’ll be spoilt for choice
Saving the best for last (if you like saving money that is): Members get 20% off all courses and 30% off when you add another subscription. Bargain!
