All new applicants must first attend a Riso studio induction in order to become a member of the studio. The induction provides an introduction to the studio and the process of making riso prints

What does it cover?
Stage 1
Introduction to the studio, talk about the riso and how the membership works
Stage 2
Participants will be shown the following stages of riso printing using a hand-drawn image and a digital image. The imagery will be provided by us for demonstration purposes. We ask that participants do not bring their own images to print at this stage.
Layout of the studio space (inc. riso space and communal areas)
Basic functions: on/off, overview of the control panel, checking number of masters and copies used, emptying masters disposal box
How to change the ink drum
How to replenish the master roll
How to use the scanner for analog-based work
How to print digital artwork files
Need to knows: acceptable paper sizes and weights, common problems and how to fix them
Stage 3
The final stage of the induction provides time to answer questions and discuss next steps
What to bring?
Participants will need to bring something to make notes and/or record the practical demonstrations
